Best London street food

The best street food in London is legendary. Borough Market, Portobello, and Maltby to name a few London food markets you really need to visit.

It takes serious research to find the truly authentic street food chefs and their food stalls at these markets that are spread across the vast city of London – this is where we come in! We’re permanently exploring, tasting, talking to, and filming the best street food vendors so that we can bring YOU the crème de la crème in neat little YouTube videos for you to watch, and then perhaps visit and experience for yourselves.

LONDON’S BEST STREET FOOD MARKETS:

Greenwich Street Food Market – London SE10 9HY

Best tube/train station: Cutty Sark DLR Station (2 mins walk)

Adjoining Greenwich’s Bric-a-Brac/Art/Curios market is Greenwich’s outstandingly good street food market that’s open every day of the week. Circa 30 (numbers fluctuate) of the UK’s most talented street food vendors have residencies here – cooking up proper tasty and authentic street food from every corner of the globe. I loved the market so much I decided to do a street food tour here!

South American

Latino Grill – Latino Steak, Chips & Chimichurri

Fresh sirloin steak and chips cooked before your eyes and then smothered in a delightful salsa and chimichurri – the best I’ve tasted. This stall is run by the exceptionally talented and friendly chef, Fabrizio. Fabrizio is one of three brothers at Greenwich market!

Brazilian Churros – Freshly Made Churros

Ludicrously tasty Brazilian churros. Freshly made and fried as you watch. You then choose your topping of choice – absolutely gorgeous! They feature in the 2nd half of this video.

Pizza Shack – Artisan Pizza

Very possibly the best pizza in London is being served up by the Pizza Shack team. Gorgeous sourdough bases, brilliantly creative and fresh toppings, all served up by a passionate, talented, and super friendly team. These guys tick every single pizza street food box.

Red Cow Carvery – Traditional English Sunday Roast Dinner

When every other vendor in the market recommends a stall…well it must be good right! This is rump steak, Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, and gravy heaven. Red Cow surpassed all my expectations – super friendly team, off-the-charts tasty food, and happy customers abounding! These guys have got it all worked out…and then some! Traditional English Sunday Roast at its finest.

The Chocolate Source – Fresh Fruit Covered in Chocolate + Waffles

A brilliant street food stand that Willy Wonka would be proud of! These guys are rocking melted chocolate on fresh fruit. They appear in the 2nd half of this video. The 1st half is Horn OK Please, a brilliant Indian vendor from South Bank Food Centre.

The Fudge Patch – Traditionally Made English Fudge

Very possibly the best fudge in London is being made here in Greenwich market! The Fudge Patch is a brilliant street food fudge business that’s staffed by one of the most impressive teams I’ve come across on my many street food journeys. Raef and Shannon are absolute superstars – their knowledge and passion for fudge is totally infectious…It became clear very quickly that this operation was rather special. Fudge made before your eyes, and lots of free samples to find out your favourite flavour – what’s not to love about these guys.

Chick ‘N’ Roti – Classic Chicken Rotisserie Chicken in Wraps

Chick ‘N’ Roti are doing chicken rotisserie street food right. Whole chickens are permanently turning on the rotisserie, basting each other as they cook, as well as flavouring the potatoes below with their juices! The chicken is then offered in a wrap or ciabatta with a choice of sauce – very yummy indeed!

Chuckling Wings – Buttermilk Marinated Chicken Nuggets

Very possibly the best chicken nuggets in London are being made by the awesome chef Ian at the brilliant Chuckling Wings. I love it when something like the chicken nugget is deconstructed and done right on every level. Chef Ian marinates his chicken thighs in buttermilk for a minimum of 12 hours, cuts them into perfectly sized chunks, covers them in a gluten free rice and corn flour combo that contains their secret spice mix, then fries them to perfection before giving you a choice of fresh toppings and a selection of seriously tasty homemade sauces. An absolute must try when at the market.

Mamma Mia – Authentic Italian Pasta Dishes

Fresh gnocchi and tortellini pasta cooked to order, with a sauce to suit any palate – these guys have got a very, very good thing going. Very possibly the most talented ‘front of house’ & ‘chef’ combo I’ve come across…and between them, they cook and serve up some of the most authentic Italian street food this side of Rome. I could eat at this stall every day.
